In August I had an unforgettable weekend at a Bayer 04 Leverkusen home game.
Lembacher Weg arranged an Audi TT for us, and on 17 August my family and I drove to Leverkusen. We also got to spend a night in the stadium hotel. It was Lisa Steger, a psychologist who worked on the oncological ward until June, who put us in touch with the organization, which fulfils wishes for sick children.
On the Saturday morning, the four of us drove straight from the hospital in Heidelberg to Leverkusen. My dad and I drove in the Audi TT, while my mum and my sister followed in our own car. My 18th birthday wasn’t until 9 September, but since I had already passed my driving test, I was allowed to take the TT for a spin.
When we arrived in Leverkusen, we checked into the hotel and were given our match tickets for Jonathan Tah’s private box. We watched the match there with Jonathan’s friends and relatives and after the match he came over himself to see us. We rounded off this unforgettable day with a cocktail. On the Sunday we stopped off briefly to see Cologne Cathedral, before driving straight back to the hospital.
This trip will give me lots of strength as I continue my journey, and I will always remember it with a smile!
